From markets to restaurants and in between, we sampled many local favorites during our short visit to Shaanxi, China. Loved all the yummy foods…except for stinky tofu, I don’t like that so much.
Here is just a small sample of the eats we had tried. There is so much we either didn’t have time for or even know about to include here. It’s one of the joys of traveling in China; There is so much diversity of foods and every place has their own special style. You could spend a lifetime enjoying it all.

Ug, stinky tofu. I actually kind of enjoy the smell but I have yet to finish a plate of them.

We stopped at this restaurant for lunch. It's sort of famous in the area for serving local favorites like Shaanxi fried chicken
Famous "biang biang" noodles - 57 strokes in this very unique Chinese character
Biang Biang Mian is a Shaanxi signature dish. The long noodle belts have a distinct chew and soak up the flavors.
Rice flour noodles are a local specialty. This assortment platter has a few favorites.
I don't know what these greens are but they were succulent.

While on our way driving into the countryside and rural villages we stopped for fresh strawberries.
Vineyard at the winery not so much going on in April.
A new winery in Shaanxi hopes to become the "Napa Valley" of China some day.
